We're supporting the Great Get Together weekend

The Forest of Dean District Council is supporting the Great Get Together event which will be taking place across the UK over the weekend of 17 and 18 June.

The ‘Big Lunch’, Jo Cox Foundation and dozens of other groups have joined forces to invite people to come together with friends, neighbours and others they don’t yet know for street parties, picnics, barbecues, bake-off competitions and other events. It follows the first anniversary of the murder of MP Jo Cox on 16 June last year.

The Council is keen to help facilitate community events for the June weekend and urges anyone wishing to get involved to read the Government’s guidance on holding street parties.  The guidance also covers events held in a market place, leisure centres or other community buildings.  Organisers are required to complete a straightforward two page application form which must be returned to the Council 4-6 weeks before the event.
