Elections

The Government has confirmed that elections on 7 May have been postponed due to COVID-19.

Payments

There may be a delay in processing payments by cheque over the next couple of months. Please pay online or by phone if you can.

Leisure centres

All leisure centres in the Forest of Dean are now closed. Visit the Freedom Leisure website if you have questions about your membership, and to find out how to exercise online.

Car parks

All car parking charges in car parks owned by us are suspended until the end of May.

For all current car park permit holders these will be extended for one month.

Cemeteries and funerals

Yew Tree Brake Cemetery is open to visitors (other than those attending a funeral)

  • Monday to Friday 6pm and 8pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 9am and 8pm.

Mile End Cemetery is open to visitors (other than those attending a funeral)

  • Monday to Friday 4pm and 8pm
  • Saturday and Sunday between 9am and 8pm.

Access to toilets and water sources will be unavailable at either site so visitors should bring water with them if required for flowers.

Social distancing must be observed at all times.  No social gatherings should take place.

The situation will be revisited should longer working hours be required or cremations and funerals take place on Saturday or Sunday.

More information is available in the Government regulations on funerals and cemeteries.
