Charity cream tea event is on track to be a great success!
The Chairman of Forest of Dean District Council, Councillor Marrilyn Smart OBE, is inviting the public to join her for a charity Cream Tea event on the Dean Forest Railway train at 2.30 pm on Saturday 22 September.
All funds raised will support her chosen charity - Forest Mental Health Carers Support Group - which offers much needed support for those who care for local residents with a wide range of mental health conditions.
Cllr Smart is looking forward to the event on 22nd September and said: “Early autumn is a fabulous time to take a scenic trip on the Dean Forest railway and enjoy a delicious traditional cream tea. I thought that this would be a fun way to raise money for my chosen charity and I very much hope that we get a good turnout to give the local Mental Health Carers Support Group a much needed funding boost.”
Tickets for the event are £20 per person (which includes the cream tea). Tickets will be limited so it is advisable to book early - please contact Becky Hurcombe on 01594 812607 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Payment can be made by calling 01594 810000 or by cheque (payable to Forest of Dean District Council and please write ‘Chairman’s Charity’ on the back).
Councillor Smart is planning further fund raising activities to support the charity, including a Christmas Carol Concert and a formal dinner.
