Don’t lose your voice!
Local residents are being urged not to lose their voice on matters that affect them. Annual canvass forms are being sent out at the end of this week and Forest of Dean residents are being urged to look out for their registration form.
With district elections taking place in the Forest of Dean in May 2019, this is an important opportunity for residents to make sure they can take part. We are encouraging every household, where there are no changes to the information printed on the form, to please respond online, by text or over the phone, where possible. Information on how to respond, including the codes required, is given on your form.
The form ensures we can keep the electoral register up to date and identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so. This will mean that residents will be able take part in any future elections.
Claire Hughes, Forest of Dean District Council’s statutory Electoral Registration Officer said: “Please respond as soon as possible, so we can make sure we have the right details on the electoral register for every address in the district. To make sure you are able to have your say at next year’s elections, simply check the form when it arrives and respond as soon as you can.
“If there are no changes to your form, please consider responding to us by phone, text or online to help us to reduce costs.
“If you’re not currently registered, your name will not appear on the form. You will need to add your name to the form and return it by post or register using the hef-response website as detailed on the form. Once this information has been received we will be in touch to ask for further information.”
People who have moved address recently are particularly encouraged to keep an eye out for the form and check the details. Residents who have any questions can contact their local electoral registration team at Forest of Dean District Council on 01594 810000.
