Council invites residents to contribute to the New Local Plan

The Forest of Dean District Council is currently reviewing the Local Plan. The new Local Plan will set out how the Forest of Dean district will develop over the next 20 years to 2041. It will help deliver new homes and jobs and safeguard the environmental assets that we value.

All planning authorities have to produce a Local Plan. The Local Plan guides future development and sets out policies, against which planning applications are considered. The current Local Plan consists of a number of documents which set out an overall strategy to guide development across the District until 2026.

The Local Plan review goes through a number of stages of preparation and we are currently at the start of the plan process. This is called Issues and Options, where we are asking for comments on what residents feel are the issues facing the Forest of Dean and the options we have to address them.

The public are invited to submit views on the contents of the document and in particular the questions within it.

The Issues and Options document can be viewed at The Council Offices, Coleford, in local libraries and on the website.

The formal consultation period has begun and will end at 4.30pm on Thursday 31 October 2019, so ensure that any comments to the Council have been received by then.

You can make your representations in the following ways:

Drop-in sessions will also be available for members of the public to attend on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 25th September 2019 5pm-8pm at Coleford Council Offices
  • Thursday 3rd October 2019 5pm-8pm at the Memorial Hall, Newent

There will be 3 or 4 members of the Local Plan team present to chat to about the consultation.
