Project summary

On 30th August 2017 the District Council revealed its plans to regenerate the former Lawnstone house, bungalow and annex site in Coleford.

The 'Foxglove Gardens' design proposals aim to improve the overall look of a prominent area of the town’s High Street and the ‘gateway’ to the historic clock tower.

The scheme will introduce some welcome green space into the town centre to create an attractive setting for the mix of high quality housing and commercial units. The new business units range from 72 to 80 Square Metres, ideal for start-ups e.g. retail/service sectors.

The apartments and commercial units will be available for private rent from December 2019.

The development will also serve to improve access to the Forest of Dean District Council offices.

The completed scheme will provide the Council with an income stream, which will be used to deliver services for residents.

Public consultation - round 1

The initial ‘Lawnstone Square’ (as it was formerly named) plans were revisited by the design team, following a first round of public consultation where they received a mixed-response.

The design team made changes to the plans as a result of the public feedback.

The feedback from the first round of consultation is available to view below:

Public consultation - round 2

The revised designs were presented to the 19 October 2017 full council meeting where members voted unanimously to support the £2.3m regeneration project. A second round of public consultation then ran until Friday 3 November 2017. For more information, please view:

The revised designs were on display in the District Council’s main reception, the foyer of the Main Place, Coleford Tourism Information Centre and Five Acres Leisure Centre reception.

The feedback from the second round of consultation is available to view below:
