  • Public Realm Improvements
  • Town Centre Reports

Public realm improvements

A number of public realm improvements have taken place in Newent town centre. The work will be carried out in phases.

New footpaths, street lighting, parking bays, a bus shelter and 20mph speed zone were all successfully introduced around the Market House, Broad Street and High Street during 2012 and 2013.

Further improvements will be carried out which include work to replace uneven, damaged kerbs and footpaths in Church Street. The work will cost £144,000 and is funded through contributions from the Onslow Road development. The same high quality materials will be used to blend this phase with the earlier work to further enhance Newent’s Conservation Area and the setting of St Mary’s, one of the towns architectural jewels.
