Steam Mills Lake PSPO

We would like your views on Steam Mills Lake in Cinderford.

Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen a rise in anti-social behaviour in the area, including people swimming in the lake itself and confrontations with local anglers and visitors. There have also been reports of damage and littering which negatively impact on the enjoyment for visitors.

As such, we would like your thoughts on a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) being placed in the area. A PSPO will mean that:

  • No swimming, bathing or boating is to take place on the lake.
  • No BBQ’s or fires in the area.
  • It will introduce an alcohol-controlled zone: an individual who refuses to surrender alcohol if directed by an authorised officer will be committing an offence.
  • Control of playing loud music: the offence will be playing of music that is deemed to be a disturbance and not turned down or off when directed by an authorised officer.

Please email street.wardens@fdean.gov.uk with your views as to whether a PSPO should be placed upon Steam Mills Lake in Cinderford.

This consultation period is open from 17 February 2025 for a period of 4 weeks, where responses will then be collated and decisions taken.
