Cinderford Northern Quarter

The Cinderford Northern Quarter is located to the north-west of Cinderford in the Forest of Dean.

The Cinderford Regenertion Board created an investement prospectus, which outlines their vision for the town until 2026.

The masterplan and design code was prepared to support the Cinderford Northern Quarter Area Action Plan which is part of the Local Plan. It was approved by Full Council on 23 February 2012.

Cinderford Northern Quarter sites

A plan of all the sites is available to download.

Spine Road

The new spine road runs from the North West corner of the site to the south, linking the A4136 with Broadmoor Road. The spine road will provide access to the new development and help address wider traffic management issues in the town.

The District Council secured funding for the scheme through the GFirst Local Enterprise Partnership Growth Deal.  The construction is being project managed by Gloucestershire County Council.

Central Zone and College

The Northern Quarter Central Zone will be anchored by the Gloucestershire College campus. This development will provide up to 1200 students with some of the best education and training facilities within the country. It will also act as a catalyst for future investment through high quality offices and light industrial units and a hotel.

Steam Mills

Steam Mills Village West forms an extension to the existing communities of Steam Mills and Newtown. Development of this site will provide greater housing choice in terms of both tenure and price through a mix of new energy efficient homes.

Northern United

The former Northern United Colliery site and the surrounding area will be transformed into an extensively landscaped Enterprise Park, offering a wide range of development plots for light and general industrial uses, warehousing and business space.

Kings Lodge, Valley Road Housing Development

As part of the Cinderford Regeneration Project, Forest of Dean District Council, Two Rivers Housing and Kier Partnership Homes Limited have worked together on the redevelopment of the Valley Road site. The scheme was for a total of 92 houses, of which 55 were open market homes and 37 were affordable homes.

The project had a total cost of approximately £20m with not-for-profit Two Rivers investing £3m into the project, for the provision of the 37 affordable units.
